CPAH is looking for "community partners" that would like to volunteer with us as an After School Program Mentor, Computer Room Monitor or to provide Community Event Support.
Purpose
The After School Program we offer to resident children provides a safe place for play and study.
Description
We provide games and crafts, as well as tutoring and homework help to 25-30 children who reside at one of CPAH’s low-income complexes. The program is open to kids in grades K through 8.
Qualifications
Volunteers at CPAH’s After School Program help resident children with their homework, supervise activities and games, and serve as positive role models. They have a desire to work with children, are comfortable supervising activities and are willing to read aloud/assist with homework.
Location
Currently, we offer After School Programs at three of our housing sites in Tigard and Beaverton.
Days and Hours
Our After School Programs follow a three-day schedule on various days, based on location, Monday – Thursday, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. We prefer volunteers who are committed for at least a couple of months. However, those who would like to volunteer on a more infrequent basis are welcome. Most volunteers come in one to two days a week.
Benefits
Gain experience working with youth of diverse ages and backgrounds. Have fun helping kid succeed in school!
