After School Program

The After School Program, held at Greenburg Oaks and Oleson Woods Apartments, involves homework mentoring and a healthy snack each weekday afternoon, followed by an hour of crafts and games. Every child who arrives before snack time is required to do at least 15 minutes of reading – either with a tutor or in a small reading circle. Fridays and no school days are focused on more in-depth crafts and activities, including a build-your-own snack to learn about nutrition.

Just this year we’ve added a second, part-time after school program at Oleson Woods, Monday through Wednesday. Participants at both Oleson Woods and Greenburg Oaks can take part in monthly field trips to Blazers games, Pacific Artists Ballet Theatre, the Oregon Children’s Theater, OMSI, Oaks Park and more.

CPAH is lucky to have student volunteers from Tigard High, Beaverton High, Southridge High, PSU, PCC and George Fox, as well as other community volunteers. Volunteers work one-on-one with the kids to give them that extra help they might not have at home. It is a great experience for both the youth and volunteers.
